Affordable, Tech Savvy, 5G

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

Much is said about the 4th industrial revolution, which refers simply, to the blurring of boundaries between the physical, digital, and biological worlds. It includes the fusion of advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, genetic engineering, quantum computing, and other technologies.

This revolution will be enabled by network connectivity that will bring together virtually everyone and everything, including machines, objects, and devices. The 5G or the 5th generation mobile network, a global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks will be essential to this connectivity.

With the rollout of 5G networks around the world including South Africa, technology companies are manufacturing devices with the capabilities to take advantage of the digital integration it will enable, making it possible to manage your life seamlessly and efficiently.

Enter OPPO’s newest 5G device, the Reno5 which packs an impressive display, operating system and AI that is developed to leverage local infrastructure to ensure a better mobile experience.

The Reno5 is one of only a few 5G enabled mobile devices available in the South African market. Coupled with its cutting-edge capabilities and affordability, the Reno5 deserves a second look.

As 5G networks become available throughout the country, OPPO wants to position itself in the minds of early adopters, offering efficiency, affordability and elegance through its Reno5 model.

5G Ready With a screen refresh rate of just one second, the Reno5 is supported by Qualcomm's SM7250 Snapdragon chipset. This allows the device to operate on an uncompromised 5G network system, downloading feature-length movies in just three seconds, to watch over a 6,43” FullHD screen.

“The Reno5 is our latest premium offering that captures the shift in how we use our smartphones daily. For a while now, smartphones have been more than just instruments for telephony.

“The past year, through which we have been living alongside COVID-19, has highlighted even more, how indispensible smartphones are in our lives. At OPPO, we have therefore worked hard to create a device that transitions seamlessly and that can upload and download content in just seconds without any reloads,” says Liam Faurie, Head of Go-to Market and Product of OPPO South Africa.

Curated Experiences The Reno5 is available in 8GB/128GB, providing greater storage capacity to ensure faster internal processing and external functionality.

5G is said to be up to 10x faster than 4G and can reach speeds of up to 200mb per second locally. To make certain that the device matches the speed available, OPPO has introduced a variety of features including multitasking. This allows users to simultaneously use various apps on the same screen, without any lag.

Gamers who use the 5G network for online exploration will enjoy the multitude of colour available via Android 11-based ColourOS 11.1 while for the content creator, the smartphone makes use of an industry-first Image Clear Engine and AI Highlight Video feature to automatically switch to Ultra-night video and/ or Live HDR video. This adapts to light, noise and beauty to ensure the best picture and video quality.

And for those sceptics that worry about the impacts on the battery, the Reno5 is also fully compatible with OPPO’s Super-Vooc charging that gets the device to 100% in under 37 minutes.

“The Reno5 is only one of our offerings. We will soon be introducing other products that keep pace with technological developments and that can do more, be more and still cost less,” concludes Faurie.

With as many as 11 million South Africans expected to use a 5G network by 2025, OPPO has curated a device that enables this to happen now and within budget for any lifestyle need.
