The competition provides chefs the opportunity to showcase their flair by experimenting with an array of plant-based products. The live chefs’ competition will take place at The Good Life Show. PLUS: a 20% discount to The Good Life Show.
As part of its collaboration with The Good Life Show, the SA Chefs Association is inviting all aspiring chefs to enter the ‘Plant-Based Chef of the Year’ competition which will take place live at the show, over the three-day event. Not only will the winners, in both the junior and senior categories, be named ‘Plant-Based ‘Chef of the Year’, but they will also be given a coveted place to take part in the 2028 Culinary Olympics.
The competition commences with regional rounds hosted at the Good Life Show in Johannesburg and Cape Town. These regional contests will serve as preliminary rounds to identify the standout chefs in each city. The ultimate winner will emerge through a head-to-head competition, pitting each regional winner against one another. The crowned winner will then earn the prestigious title of South African Chef of the Year – Plant Based Division.
How To Register for Plant-Based Chef of the Year
Registrations for the competition opened 30 March 2024 ahead of the Cape Town event.
SA Chef’s President, James Khoza says: “Hosting a competition such as this gives the participants the opportunity to showcase their flair by experimenting with an array of plant-based products. Things are constantly evolving in the culinary world and, with many consumers opting to embrace a plant-based diet, a competition such as this gives chefs the chance to navigate a new way of cooking.”
All dishes prepared in this competition must be 100% vegan/plant-based; no animal products are allowed.
